NetflixKing Won't Open or Crashes on Launch? Try This
An app that installs successfully but then won't open, crashes immediately, or shows a black screen is a different problem from an install error or mid-playback buffering — the fixes are different too. Here's how to work through it.
First, confirm it's actually installed correctly
- Check Settings → Apps and confirm NetflixKing appears in your app list with a reasonable storage size — if it shows 0 MB or doesn't appear at all, the install didn't actually complete; see our install troubleshooting guide instead.
- If it does appear normally, the issue is with launching it, not installing it — continue below.
1. Force-stop and relaunch
A crashed background process can block the app from starting cleanly on the next attempt, even though nothing looks wrong on the surface.
- Go to Settings → Apps → NetflixKing → Force Stop, then reopen the app from your home screen or apps row.
2. Clear the app's cache and data
- Clear cache first (Settings → Apps → NetflixKing → Storage → Clear Cache) and try opening it again — a corrupted cache is a common cause of a crash-on-launch pattern.
- If that doesn't help, Clear Data as well — this resets the app to a fresh state, but you'll need to re-enter your Purchase ID afterward since it clears the device's saved activation.
3. Check you have enough free storage and memory
Android can fail to launch an app at all when a device is critically low on storage or RAM, often without a clear error message — it just silently fails or flashes a black screen. Check Settings → Storage; if you're above roughly 95% used, free up space and try again.
4. Reinstall with the latest APK
- Uninstall the current version completely via Settings → Apps → NetflixKing → Uninstall.
- Download a fresh copy from
netflixking.com/downloads/NetflixKing.apkand install it as new — this resolves crashes caused by a partially corrupted installation that clearing cache/data alone can't fix.
5. Check your Android version
NetflixKing targets Android 8.0 and newer. On older Android versions, an app can install without error but crash immediately on launch due to missing system APIs it depends on. Check Settings → About Device → Android Version — there's no in-app fix for this beyond updating the device's OS if an update is available.
6. Device-specific quirks
- On some heavily modified budget Android TV boxes, manufacturer-added battery-optimization or "app cleaner" features aggressively kill background apps and can prevent a fresh launch — check for anything described as a "memory booster" or "app accelerator" in the device's settings and whitelist NetflixKing if one exists.
- See our Android TV box troubleshooting guide if the device shows broader signs of instability beyond this one app.
Still won't launch?
If none of the above resolves it, email [email protected] with your device model and Android version — a persistent crash-on-launch after a clean reinstall is usually device-specific and easier to diagnose with those details.
