How to Install the NetflixKing APK on a Fire TV Stick
Fire TV Stick doesn't ship with the NetflixKing app in its built-in app store — no Android streaming APK does, since Amazon's store only lists apps Amazon has approved. To run NetflixKing on a Fire Stick, you install the APK file directly, a process called sideloading. It's an official, supported way to run Android apps on Fire TV; it just takes a few extra steps the first time. Here's the full walkthrough.
Before you start
- Works on Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Cube, and Fire TV (Gen 2+) running Fire OS.
- One exception: the newest Fire TV Stick 4K Select runs Amazon's new Vega OS, which does not currently support sideloading APKs. If your box shipped in the last few months, check Settings → My Fire TV → About to see which OS it's on before you start.
- You'll need your Purchase ID ready (emailed to you after checkout) to activate the app once it's installed.
- A stable Wi-Fi connection — the APK is a real download, not a small file.
Step 1: Enable installs from unknown sources
Fire OS blocks app installs from outside the Amazon Appstore by default. You only need to do this once.
- From the Fire TV home screen, go to Settings (the gear icon, usually far right).
- Select My Fire TV (on older Fire OS versions this may just be labeled Device).
- Select Developer Options.
- Find Apps from Unknown Sources (or, on newer Fire OS, Install Unknown Apps listed per-app) and turn it On.
If you don't see Developer Options at all, it may be hidden. Go to My Fire TV → About, then click Fire TV Stick (or your device name) seven times quickly — this unlocks Developer Options, the same trick used on Android phones.
Step 2: Install a downloader app
You need something on the Fire Stick that can fetch a file from a URL and install it — Fire TV doesn't have a browser by default. The most common tool is an app literally called Downloader, free in the Amazon Appstore.
- From the Fire TV home screen, go to the search icon and search "Downloader".
- Install the app published by AFTVnews (it's the standard one almost every sideloading guide uses).
- Open it once so it can request permission to access your storage — accept when prompted.
Step 3: Download and install the NetflixKing APK
- Open Downloader and select the URL bar.
- Type in:
netflixking.com/downloads/NetflixKing.apk - Press Go. The file is roughly 30 MB, so it should finish in well under a minute on most connections.
- When the download completes, Downloader will prompt you to install automatically — select Install.
- Once installed, you'll see a prompt to open the app or delete the APK file. Deleting the APK afterward is optional — it just frees up a small amount of storage and doesn't affect the installed app.
Step 4: Activate with your Purchase ID
Open NetflixKing from your Fire TV apps row. On first launch you'll be asked for your Purchase ID — this is the code emailed to you after checkout (or from your account dashboard if you signed up for the trial). Enter it once; the app binds to this device automatically after that, so you won't need to re-enter it on future launches.
Troubleshooting this specific setup
- Downloader says "unable to resolve host": your Fire Stick has no internet connection — check Settings → Network.
- Nothing happens after pressing Install: go back and confirm Apps from Unknown Sources is actually toggled on for the Downloader app specifically, not just the global setting.

Is this against Amazon's rules?
No — sideloading is a documented, supported Fire OS feature, not a jailbreak or exploit. Amazon includes the Developer Options toggle specifically so users can install apps from outside its own store. You're not modifying the device's firmware or bypassing any security beyond the one setting described above.
