Xiaomi Mi Box & Mi TV Stick: Complete APK Sideloading Guide

Xiaomi's Mi Box and Mi TV Stick run Android TV, which means — like any Android device — they can install apps from outside the Google Play Store. NetflixKing isn't listed in the Play Store (no sideloaded streaming APK is), so getting it onto a Mi device takes one extra step the first time. Here are two ways to do it.

Before you start

• This covers the Mi Box S, Mi Box 4K International Edition, and both generations of Mi TV Stick.
• Mi devices run 64-bit Android TV, so they use the arm64-v8a build of an APK — NetflixKing's APK is built for this automatically, no separate download needed.
• Have your Purchase ID ready (emailed after checkout, or visible in your account dashboard after claiming a trial).

Method 1: Downloader app (easiest)

• From the Mi Box home screen, open the Play Store and search for "Downloader" — install the one published by AFTVnews.
• Before opening it, go to Settings → Apps → See all apps → Downloader → Install unknown apps and toggle it On. On some Mi firmware this setting instead lives under Settings → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources.
• Open Downloader, tap the address bar, and type: netflixking.com/downloads/NetflixKing.apk
• Tap Go. Once the ~30 MB file finishes downloading, Downloader prompts you to install — tap Install, then Done.

Method 2: USB drive (no extra app needed)

If you'd rather not install a downloader app at all, you can sideload from a USB stick instead:

• On a computer or phone, download the APK from netflixking.com/downloads/NetflixKing.apk.
• Copy it onto a USB flash drive formatted as FAT32 or exFAT — Mi Box won't reliably read drives formatted as NTFS.
• Plug the drive into the Mi Box's USB port.
• Open the Mi Box's built-in File Manager (or install one free from the Play Store if it isn't preinstalled), navigate to the USB drive, and tap the APK file.
• You'll still need Install unknown apps enabled for whichever file manager you use, same as Method 1.

Activating the app

Open NetflixKing from your Mi Box home screen. The first launch asks for your Purchase ID — enter it once and the app binds to that device automatically, so you won't be asked again on future launches.

If the install doesn't go through

• "App not installed" or a parsing error: almost always means Unknown Sources wasn't actually enabled for the specific app you used to open the file — double-check that setting for that exact app, not just a global toggle. Our full troubleshooting guide covers every other cause.
• USB drive not detected: reformat it as FAT32 (most USB formatting tools default to this) and make sure the APK file sits in the root folder, not buried in subfolders.
• Downloader can't reach the URL: check the Mi Box has an active internet connection under Settings → Network & Internet.

Is sideloading safe on a Mi Box?

Yes — "Install unknown apps" is a standard Android TV setting Google itself ships on every Android TV device, specifically so users can install software from outside the Play Store when they choose to. It doesn't root the device, void any warranty, or modify the system beyond that one permission toggle.
