NetflixKing Buffering or Won't Load? 10 Fixes That Actually Work

Buffering and "won't load" issues are almost always caused by one of a small set of things — your connection, your device's cache, or a specific stream source having a bad day. Work through these roughly in order; the first three fix the large majority of cases.

1. Check it's actually your connection

  • Run a speed test on the same device (or same Wi-Fi network) you're streaming on. For standard-definition playback you want at least 5 Mbps; for HD, aim for 15–25 Mbps.
  • If you're on Wi-Fi and the signal is weak, move your router closer, switch to a 5 GHz band if your router supports it, or connect the device to Ethernet if it has a port — wired connections are far more stable for TV boxes and Fire Sticks than Wi-Fi.
  • Too many devices on the same network streaming or downloading at once will starve each other's bandwidth — pause other downloads/streams and test again.

2. Switch your DNS

This fixes more buffering issues than people expect, especially on ISPs with slow or congested default DNS servers.

  • On your router or device's network settings, change the DNS servers to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1).
  • On Android TV / Fire TV, this is usually under Settings → Network → [your connection] → Advanced/IP settings — change from DHCP to Static just to edit the DNS fields, then save.

3. Clear the app's cache

A bloated or corrupted cache is one of the most common causes of an app that loads slowly or gets stuck on a spinner.

  • Go to Settings → Apps → NetflixKing → Storage (wording varies slightly by device) and tap Clear Cache — not Clear Data, which would sign you out.
  • Restart the app after clearing the cache.

4. Close background apps

Android TV boxes and budget Fire Sticks often have limited RAM. Too many apps left running in the background competes for memory and can cause stutter or crashes mid-playback.

  • On Fire TV: hold the home button and select the app, then press the menu/options button to force-close it.
  • On Android TV boxes: Settings → Apps → Running apps, and close anything you're not actively using.

5. Update the app and the device software

  • Check Settings → About (or your device's system update menu) for a pending Android/Fire OS update — playback bugs are frequently fixed in these.
  • If NetflixKing has a newer APK version available, reinstalling with the latest download from netflixking.com/downloads/NetflixKing.apk resolves bugs that were already fixed upstream.

6. Try a different resolution or content item

If everything else on your network streams fine but one specific title stutters, try lowering the playback quality if the app offers a manual option, or try a different title/channel to check whether the issue is connection-wide or specific to one stream.

7. Restart the device itself

Not just the app — a full power cycle of the Fire Stick, Android TV box, or phone clears memory leaks that build up over days of uptime and is genuinely effective, not just a cliché first step.

8. Check your device isn't overheating

Streaming boxes tucked behind a TV in an enclosed cabinet can throttle their own performance once they overheat, causing stutter that looks like a network problem. Make sure there's airflow around the device, especially in summer.

9. Reduce the number of connected devices

If your home Wi-Fi is shared with several 4K streams, smart-home devices, and downloads running simultaneously, the router itself can become the bottleneck rather than your internet plan's actual speed.

10. Still buffering after all of the above?

At this point it's worth isolating whether it's the device or the network: try NetflixKing on a different device on the same Wi-Fi. If it plays smoothly there, the issue is specific to the first device (often outdated firmware or failing hardware); if it buffers everywhere, it's almost certainly the network.
